How It Started

PepperText was developed by two typing enthusiasts with experience in software development and transcription (audio typing). A fan of text expanders, they couldn't find one that worked how they wanted, so they decided to make their own.

The 'Vision'

Their starting goal was to make text expansion:

• Less intrusive: reduce accidental expansions and unwanted pop up previews by improving options that allow these to occur only when you want them.
• Work better for fast typists: avoid interrupting the flow of typing by improving text completion with more customisability and adding the ability to chain snippets together.
• Work better in browsers: previews appear near the typing cursor in browsers.
• Simpler to use: keep the user interface simple and well designed. Text expansion shouldn't only be for tech enthusiasts!

Launch

PepperText beta launched under the ownership of Arroo Software Ltd on the 24th of May 2024.
